TomTom Rider 2 zoom not holding

I just took a 1500 mile trip, I did not use any routes but when I wanted to see a larger map area I would zoom out to see more. Within 30 seconds the zoom would return to the lower level only showing about a mile or two. I wanted to see a larger area. I have look through the manual and online and can't find a fix. Am I doing something wrong or is that just the nature of the beast? Wish I bought a Garmin.

My pal has a Zumo, it has its share of "issues" as well......

Auto-zoom sucks

I also have this problem with my XL30. I feel exactly the same about wanting to set my zoom level when I'm on the open road. The auto-zoom is extremely irritating. I don't want it when I'm doing urban navigation either.

Autozoom can only be disabled on Tomtom GO models.
