TomTom One XL "No Maps Found!

So I just bought it, plugged it into my cigarette lighter, and after fiddling with a few preference options like language and voice I come to a screen that says "No maps found!" There was a sticker on the sd card slot that said maps for USA and Canada are preloaded. Anyone know whats up?

Try this: Go to 'Change preferences', 'Manage maps' 'Switch map'.

If there is there a map listed on this screen, select it.

There isn't any interface options at all. Just a gray screen that says "No maps found!" This puppy is going back to the store. It says on the back back of the box that it should work straight out of the box.
