Tomtom Go 720 start up screen

Sometimes when I turn on my Go 720 it show a black tomtom screen and plays a sound. Most other times it goes right to a scenic picture and then the menu.

Any idea why it sometimes is different?

When I connect to my computer it always will show the black Tomtom screen but does not play the drum sound. Just seems odd!

This is normal when you connect your TT to the computer.

You'll get the same screen but with the drum sounds when you either soft reset the unit (paperclip in the reset hole), or remove/insert an SD card.

Also you see the black screen when you turn off longer than 4 hrs.

Thanks so much. My unit has a sticker over the SD card slot that says' "no SD required". I guess I can still use it but I don't know what I might need it for.

In regards to seeing the black screen when the unit is off for more than 4 hours, mine does not do that. It's off for many, many hours and always goes to the owner screen when I start up and then my screen shot. Thanks for taking the time to reply.
