Tom tom go classic 5
Hello everyone,
I've recently bought a brand new second hand TOM TOM GO Classic 5 which seems to be a NAV 2 (serial number starting with G) which is under garantee until 21st of november 2023. My GPS has been seriously acting up for a month and won't start and only show a red cross probably because the last cycle of software update failed. I've tried numerous amounts of time to reset it by restarting it and pressing the start button 3 times once the OS shows but unfortunately it does not work because the OS never shows more than 1 millisecond and you're supposed to do it when the OS screen shows.

I have also tried to update it via the Tom Tom MyDrive Connect software which I have downloaded and installed on my Macbook air but unfortunately, because it is a Macbook air I cannot plug the USB A from the computer directly into the computer but in a dock (my macbook air does not have built in USB A port) and therefore the software does not recognize my GPS !

I am totally stuck with a useless GPS and have no idea what to do. I've tried contacting the Tom Tom support in France where I live but it is a very poor support, do you have any tips ?

My serial number starts with G41401T01392 ...

Hi

Your Tomtom Go Classic 5 looks like

If your GPS displays a red cross, the software is not installed correctly.

Where did you buy a GPS nav 2 which is guaranteed until November 21, 2023 most GPS are no longer sold or followed by Tomtom.

It appears that there are a couple of 'holes' in our serial numbers, and I've just discovered a couple that, sadly, TomTom has 're-used' that were not previously noted.

I'll be working on getting that updated over the weekend.

Your G4 is indeed a Nav4 device of the sort Willy shows, above.
