TomTom Model(s)
Start 60
I have acquired a start 60 and want to install an sd card that I can save routes to (im a driving instructor).
I've got the correct type of SD card and its formatted to Fat32
When I put it in the device it wants to format it again but doesn't ask if I want it formatted to routes or maps. If I click yes to format the SD card is then "full" and I can do nothing with it. I also don't have an option in the menu/settings to force a format to routes.
I'm hoping someone knowledgeable on here can help me before I throw the thing out of the upstairs window!
Thanks :)

Is the map installed in the GPS's internal memory or on the SD card?

To reformat it for route creation, insert the SD card into your computer to format it, then reinsert it into your GPS.

The maps are on the devices memory.
I've created routes on plan tomtom (or whatever its called) but couldn't transfer them direct to the device.
I have formatted the sd card on the computer to fat32 but when i put it in the tomtom it asks to format it (even though its a brand new, unused sd card)

It is perfectly normal for TomTom to ask you to format the SD card again.

I understand that but when it does the memory card is seen as full and no longer useable

So, I allowed the device to format SD Card.
Put SD Card into PC to transfer routes from TomTom plan to sd card to use in device.

Nothing would transfer so looked at the sd card details and it was full barr a minimal amount of space.

If I format the sd card on the PC, transfer routes from tomtom plan then put it in the tomtom it says it needs to format the sd card and subsequently wipes it and fills it with nothing again

That's not how it works; you need to convert your routes to a GPX file and then add them via the TomTom map. See message 4

Maybe im not making myself clear. Apologies.

I have created routes in tomtom plan.
I have connected the tomtom start 60 to laptop which auto opened mydrive connect.
I have gone into plantomtom and asked it to sync the route as a track with my devices.
It then pops up saying this route is synced with your device
(Which from what I can see it snt - I dont have a 'my routes' option on the device.)

I then thought maybe I could copy the routes to an sd card and pop that in the device.
I have copied them as gpx files onto the computer formatted sd card. Put the sd card in the device and the device then wants to reformat the card which in turn, wipes the card of the saved routes and the sd card is then seen as full and no longer usable.
There is no option to ask the device to reformat the card as routes or maps (obviously I want routes).
I have no idea what im doing wrong, whether it is my computer, the tomtom, connections or if its just a sh*t system.
To say im getting frustrated is an understatement 😫

If you created a route on TomTom Maps and synced it with your GPS, it should work.

The question now is, is it perhaps an older Start 60 model and therefore incompatible with TomTom Maps?

Could you provide the first two letters of the serial number?

WN = is an older Start 60 with 4 GB of internal memory + micro-SDHC.

This Start 60 is not compatible with Plan-TomTom.
