Screen Dark iphone 4

I have used velcro to make the kit work but have noted that after 20-30 minutes the screen becomes very dark and the phone seems to heat up. When I remove the phone from the kit the screen will eventually become light again. I have changed the auto dark function to off on the phone settings with no improvement. Any one else have this problem.

I see similar behavior when it is very hot/sunny outside. Maybe the black iphone 4 absorbs heat faster than the previous models. Usually what I do to fix it is turn the AC to high for the windshield blower.... which is where I have it mounted in the car. It seems to cool it off after a few minutes and the screen's brightness goes back to normal.
