replaced lcd screen still not working

hi guys - i had a tomtom go 730, the other day i dropped it and the lcd screen was broken and had lots of lines in it,,,bought a replacement screen exactly same as mine with 12 months warranty,,put it in in seconds easy job i thought...powered the tomtom up and nothing just a dull lit screen with nothing on it, took it apart again, checked ribbon connection and connector all fine, now when i power up the unit i hear the tomtom drum sound, screen is showing all lines as my cracked lcd screen did....what is wrong..lcd cost me £28....what else could be wrong or what can i check ?..ta

no i dont think so its a brand new screen with brand new digitizer on it..
