Hi All.

I hope that someone can help ?
I have an old 710 that I have had for many years.
it ended up with a battery problem, the battery would not hold charge long.
Anyway, I have replaced the battery, and now on putting it all back together, I am getting the red cross coming up when i try to boot the gps.
I have tried the reset button, I have put the memory card in a reader and viewed it on the computer and it aseems to be reading it fine.
The unit was working fine before I replaced the battery, apart from it not keeping charge.
The only thing I can think of is that I may have damaged the ribbon cable by accident.?

Any advise would be very much appreciated.

Hi Again.

I have tried to do what you suggested but it does not connect to the computer
all I get is a message saying the card needs to be formatted, when I do it, it says it cannot do it, see if its write protected...which it is not

the unit was working perfectly before I replaced the battery.

I have a suspicion that i have damaged the cable between the memory card and the main unit, it appears that I may have squeezed it when putting it all back together and I may have broken one of the tracks in the ribbon

Can you advise me of where I may be able to get spares for this unit ? unless someone has any other ideas ?

I look forward to hearing from you
