No TomTom Maps for me!

I bought a GO720 and being a software kind of guy I didn't really look at the printed matter that was in the box. I received an email from TomTom when they were flogging new map upgrades and realized that my map guarantee was limited to 30 days. I was about 60 days past this limit but asked them to honor the upgrade to one that was available within the 30 day period. NO WAY was the reply! If the software had told me this I would have been aware but it didn't and I was not (until past the date)! I don't think think this is very good way to run a co when all it will cost is some good will and me being anxious to buy a new map! I own and operate a company that produces BITW (best in the world) products. I would not dream of behaving like they have towards me. I guess I will sell it off on ebay and go with a different brand of gps very soon. Too bad because their attitude is my only complaint with Tom. Cheap near sighted buggers!!

What am I missing here? The information in the box did inform you about the LMG. You chose not to read it. And you are blaming the company for your own negligence?

I would have more sympathy for you if you HAD tried for the LMG within 30 days and they were giving you a hard time about it.

As it is...........guess it is a lesson learned on your part.

(I do presume when you post the item on ebay, you WILL say that the unit is not eligible for a free map upgrade and the purchaser will have to pay to update it. Right? )

I guess it comes down to customer service and goodwill. A product that is very much software oriented should give the warning in the software as well. For them to upgrade me would have cost nothing but would have guaranteed my purchases in the future. They could also take note that this should be mentioned in the software because I am sure that I am not the only one that doesn't read every printed word that comes with a product. When I sell it on ebay I will sell it as used, which is what it is.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained .....

Call Support at 866-486-6866 and explain you are in the Military. Explain the situation and maybe, just maybe, they'll add the map to your account.

Did that, call many times, email back and forth, They don't care!

Those of you who lost access to the Latest map program - did you at least upgrade to the latest version? That might help provide good faith on your part when "pleading" with Tom Tom

When you loggin to the site, TT will capture your machine in there database. They know if you updated your maps or not. They also know if you used your free maps upgrade or promotion code. and they don't care!
