GO1005
I have a GO 1005 which is supposed to have lifetime map updates. I am using the latest version of MyDrive Connect (4.2.5.3770) to perform the updates. I realize that some new map updates may be larger than the capacity of my device and I am prepared to uninstall some content in order to allow these larger updates. MyDrive Connect allows me to select the software to uninstall and what to install. I see that I then have plenty of memory capacity on my device to accomplish the job. However, it does not work. It accepts the command and says "Getting Ready ...), forever! I see from a Google search that many others are having the same problem. I have emailed TomTom but so far no answer. Can anyone solve this?

Try calling. More effective:

(I deleted your other post. Not good to post in two different threads).

There are multiple versions of the GO 1005 out there (9 that I can identify). Some have as little as 2GB of memory which presents a severe problem for maps. Only a small handful accept uSD cards to expand available memory.

Can you supply the first two characters of your serial number?

The Go 1005 in Europe with 'SM' starting the serial number becomes:

"SM">GO 2535 TM WTE, 8GB, MyDrive Connect NAV3 in North America.

Yes, helpful in that it has 8GB to work with. As dhn notes, we call it a GO 2535 here. I say "here", but in fact, I believe that unit has been called the 2535 anywhere it has been sold. Am surprised you have identified it as a 1005.

With 8GB, you will be able to run some slightly pared down map - not quite the full North America (Canada / US / Mexico), I don't think, but something that will serve -- like just Canada / US. So at least your effort isn't going to be in vain. There is no provision for a memory card, so you must live within the internal memory limits.

So, now that there's some hope, let's talk about the original issue.
Is it when you select a map to install that you are seeing the "Getting ready" that never ceases?
Is your existing map still functional on your device? What map version is presently loaded?
