hi..

i have a tom tom one and getting a bit annoyed with it trying to find address's using the street name. It may be me and i simply have an option wrong. but here's the crack. if I'm trying to find an address i type in the street name but it always asks me for the city first? other sat navs i've used allow you to enter the street name and then you can browse a list of possible addresses. The tom tom require you to already know the suburb you are going to... this is friggin crazy as all i have is the street address.. is there any way to get it to just allow you to enter the street name and list possible options..???

thanks ..

Unfortunately, that is the way TomToms work .... city before street.
Personally I prefer that way. It narrows down the ammount of matches it offers & there is a much less chance of getting dublicate streets from different citys.

The problem with the method is if a street is located in a suburb of a city and the user doesn't know the area and tries to find the street in the city. Will get no 'hits' on the street name and is left not being able to be directed to the destination using the TomTom.

It is a frequently requested feature on this forum that "anywhere" be an option for city. Once selected, you can choose a street and see all locations of that street in a given state.

For those like Colm they just have to type a city and will have no problem.

I recommend calling up Tomtom support and asking for this feature. They do log those calls and the more they get the more they might prioritize an enhancement.

Also, see this link.
