NA larger poi/crpoi dat files

I always suffer what canderson is experiencing when dl maps to my N3 devices (hours and hours to completion) but just dl the USA Canada map for my 540 in under 20 minutes and installing now. Will be very interested whether it succeeds since it is replacing a North_America map on the device and I expect problems......

Later:

Well, a pleasant surprise...........

The North_America map on the device was replaced by USA Canada and all custom pois and other settings were retained.

Alas -- was all done sometime overnight, so no chance to check the IP address this morning. Of interest, the MapShare for the 2GB USA/Canada map is already 2.2MB this morning. That may be a record for day-after-release size.

Anyway -- to Arno:

2GB 910 POI.DAT = 295,953K (was 164,277K for 905)
2GB 910 CRPOI.DAT = 24,104K (was 14,120K for 905)

So perhaps we do have the larger one now.

OK, to account for the necessary reduction in use of space:

faces.dat is now 62,907K, was 124,363K
That really doesn't make up the difference. Looks like we're pushing the limit a bit closer this time.

faces.dat is now 62,907K, was 124,363K
faces.dat was 62,777 v905

poi.dat was 294, 358
crpoi.dat was 23,903

North_America was 1.75 GB (1,881,247,135 bytes)
USA_Canada is 1.75 GB (1,882,658,588 bytes)

I had suspected for some time now that those new, low cost quarterly subscriptions only covered a 2GB map.

v805.1801 North_America 1.92 GB (2,071,190,233 bytes)
(That is the LMG update after powering the new unit over night.
Original, SatNav 8.002 and 800.1727 NA map.)

poi.dat 283,760 KB 2008-May-30
crpoi.dat 172.966 KB 2008-May-30

Those file dates are 1 month before the GO 930 was being shipped.

Well, all that seems to prove that my making and uploading zip filed had become an exercise in futility!

Looks like it, but it was appreciated when it still provides the 7XX users a benefit, believe me.
