Map Updates

When I update map, my favorities and home location are deleted. What file do I need to backup so I can restore my favorites after the map update?

The mapsettings.cfg file found in your specific map folder.

Back that up and then copy to the new map folder. However, latest applications make that not so easy to do and still work, so:

1. After using Explorer to copy the file to the new map folder, start Home.
2. Run the emulator (Operate my unit)
3. Go to Manage Favourites and make an alteration to just one of them, by deleting one, or adding one, or editing one.
4. Disconnect the unit PROPERLY from the computer (Device-->Disconnect).
5. Turn off the unit. Turn it back on. Your favourites should return.

There are better (more long lasting alternatives) if you are interested.....

Many use a method detailed by SuperMod, Mikealder here:

which involves creating a custom poi set for Favourites.

another way to make sure that you will always have your favorites. Make a new catagory
_My_Favorites
Now when go to your catagories this will be the first one. Now add each of your POI from your favorites to this one catagory one at a time. When all of these favorites go into _my_favorites connect to tom tom home and copy this one catagory to your computer. Now when you update your maps and your favorites are lost , through tom tom home again you can add each POI in the _my_favorites back to your favorite list. The good thing is that as a poi in the Catagory you can have as many poi as you want. In your favorites I think you can have only 48 favorites so you are not limited any more. Good luck by the choice is yours.
