Map update - are custom POI catergories/custom POIs lost?

Hi,

I have a TomTom XL340TM.

I like to find out:

when I do a map update - would my customized POI catergories/custom POI's be lost, or are they still kept in the device unaltered?

Normally when a map is updated, the new one just overwrites existing files on the unit, leaving other files (such as cust .ov2 files) in place.

That said, it's still a good idea to make an Explorer backup prior to a new map update, just in case ..............
