Is there a way to gift maps?

Is there a way I can gift a map to someone? I know Garmin has map updates that you can buy in a store and give to someone. Does TomTom have something similar?

You cannot as far as I know....

It used to be that you could get maps on a sd card if you were European based but no longer, I think.

Do you know anyone in Canada who got around, successfully, avoiding buying a map in EUR and paying their exorbitant VAT rates?

I am not aware of any, no. I think I remember a poster in BC who, upon complaining about the problem, got his subscription extended for another map or something.
