Getting Traffic without the internet

I know that other GPS brands use a seperate antenna to access their traffic features. I think that it recieves a special traffic radio signal. Is TomTom thinking of this? (HINT, HINT, TomTom)

Or is there a way to rig this so that I don't have to spend an extra $50 for internet access every month? This sounds impossible, but GPS in my car would have floored me ten years ago.

Thanks for you help!

Yes, receiving traffic info without your phone is used with the RDS-TMC Traffic Receiver.

It's currently available only in Europe. This accessory doesn't work well. There are many complaints. TomTom is trying to fix this and eventually sell it here in the states.
