If i delete the mp3 files, and other unnecessary entertainment files, does this free up space for a larger map requiring more memory, or is the map directory sectored and will only take a certain number of bytes?

Thre is no limit on the size of the maps and folders they are installed in 9one for each), only the available memory space.

If you do not have a device with an SD card (or an old unit with a hard drive), you are going to be very limited by the memory size only.

You can also remove certain files from the larger map before installing. The usual suggestion would be the csspeechxx.dat files for states you KNOW you will never need Voice Recognition (e.g, the Texas file itself is over 40 megs in size). You would not delete these files (keep them on the hard drive in case you get a larger sd card that can handle the entire larger map)
