Find out if you need to perform a key maintenance update before 6 April

XXl Classic series
I have a XXL Classic series. A great machine which has worked well and was still working well until I received the email about the 6th April updates. After following the link and working with tomtom home I now have a machine which no longer works and has defied all attempts to update or restore. Can anyone help??
I am becoming a little cynical and starting to think this is all a ploy to disable the old units and encourage people to buy new. Surely not!!
 
You'll need to deal with support but don't provide a model when prompted in order for a live agent to come online:

hi, new to this, I have a go520, when I install the new update, my tomtom can no longer see my map which is installed on my sd card, when I reinstall back to the original, it now sees my map, hope someone can help
