910 wont start

Hi my m8 has a TT910 and it wont boot up some times it gets to set language but switches straight of
other times it boots to splash screen and stays there you can here a pinging noise from the unit its continious to you reset it
battery was left to char 2 days
any ideas please

Is there by chance a backup (hopefully Explorer) available?

yes i have backups but it wont connect to computer

If you do a reset of the unit, will it connect to the computer then?

By pinging noise, do you mean a metallic click, click, click noise? Somewhere between 1 to 2 clicks per second?

If so, that's usually is a sign of hard drive failure. If it connects after a pin reset, try a format of the drive with quickformat disabled. It should mark bad sectors and hopefully enough of the drive is usable so that you can restore your backup.

If not, they you may need to disassemble and put another hard drive in the device, or just buy another Tomtom.
