740 waypoint?

Is there a way to insert a waypoint into your current route? The Garmin I borrowed (which got me hooked and I had to buy the 740) allowed you to navigate to a POI via waypoint without losing your final destination.

-Tap the satellite bars,
-Then tap find alternate route
-Then "travel via"
-Then choose your waypoint

If you want multiple destinations (up to 48) go to the itinerary planning menu. Each destination can be marked as a stop or a waypoint

Thanks! You rock. Now can you tell me what the different icons mean? some are green, yellow, blue next to POI that I search for.

Green means "on your route", blue means "near your route". I don't know what blue is.
