i have been giving a old tomtom by a friend because he has a new one it is about 6+ years old is has no sdcard with map Can i get a new map free or would it be better getting a new tomtom can i get second hand one that would be better.

No, you can't get a free map for the device. That's for sure.

You might want to consider something like the Start 25 Western Europe with free lifetime maps. See here:

You can also search someplace like ebay.co.uk to find a user one, I suppose.

What are the first two characters of it's serial number (the one on the same label as the barcode)
