1605M upgrade to TM?

Hi. Hope you can help.

A friend has bought a Tomtom 1605 M, thinking he would get traffic updates too. He has since purchased the car adapter with the built in traffic antenna, but is now getting the message that it is not registered to his Tomtom device. He's asking me to help him out!

Is there a way to marry these two, together so he will be able to receive lifetime traffic along with the maps.

Wonder where he bought the combo rds-tmc antenna/car charger since they aren't sold in North America anymore---by TomTom anyway.
