xl live iq route will not start

After updating my XL LIVE IQ Routes - 2GB it will not restart. It starts by the yellow line flashing across bottom, returns to the Tom tom logo and then back to the line again!!!!
Tried the soft reboot, but didn't work. What can be done??

Try connecting to Home. Plan a trip using the emulator (Operate my Unit). Disconnect properly using the device disconnect icon.

Any better?

ongoing problem

tried to 'operate my unit' using the PC but half way through it says to look for a solution on the web then it closes down. No further forward I'm afraid.

1. Make an Explorer, not Home, backup of your unit's contents. If not sure how, see here: https://www.tomtomforums.com/t17864-how-backup-contents-your-unit-computer-restore.html

2. Delete all the loose files in the root of the unit, NO folders or their contents.

3. Connect to Home and install the application offered. Disconnect properly from Home using the Device Disconnect icon.
