Watch a Movie on your TomTom

Did you get Mplayer to work with TomTom? All I see is an open source for Linux and Windows.. How do you get it to work on TT?

Just wanted to say THANKS! I tried Gmplayer and it worked right out of the box! Great Contribution!!!!!

It of course worked best with image sizes closer to My TT 510s
native size, 480 by 360 avi's had only minimal vertical clipping
(I guess down to 272 vert) I did have problems getting the video converter "Prism" to work (some conflict with a missing "cpdecpack.msi" possibly a residue of Sonic? )
My machine is pretty well hacked <G> and the other two commercial TT video players packages did NOT work well at all. Gmplayer was a piece of cake to use!

I just need a better video sizer program with a 480 x 272 AVI output option

Now what I'm considering is if I was going to be taking TT videos along on a long road trip (dual function as a DVD player) I would prefer to load them on a separate and larger dedicated SD chip without maps and other TT baggage

Use "Super (c)" for this ! ... http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html... or ... http://www.01net.com/telecharger/windows/Multimedia/encodeurs_et_decodeurs/fiches/33476.html

for example : http://tomtom.leforum.eu/image.php?image=http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/7040/superav7.jpg

Makayama Software lets you choose your model then spits you out....

I use Mobilnova on my TT One LE. It works great. A movie takes about 200 meg so you need an SD card.

I should also mention that it takes care of the conversion of dvd, avi or mpg so it looks correct on the TT.

Kill the GPS process !

Only this 4 things :

Gmplayer_sans_GPS.png

-1- But you have to download this file, rename it = "ttsystem" and insert it into your tomtom :)

-2- "NOWATCHDOG" and not nowachTdog ...

Only for the ONE !

Hi everyone,

We are proud to announce TomPlayer V0.1 release.
Tomplayer is a free multimeda player for your TomTom.
You are welcome at http://www.tomplayer.net/index.php?lang=en to make it a try and speak with the authors...

Regards

Thank you very much for providing this. I was one of the first to buy the Makayama player, and then they abandoned my device (TomTom GO700) if I used the latest TomTom firmware/application. It was very disappointing, especially after what I paid for the product, and now you're offering the same solution for free!

Thank you!

Thank you very much.
Indeed, we believe it was a shame not to have a free video player for Tomtom.
This one is based on the very good mplayer and we are working to make it as usable as possible with specific features related to tomtom...

Hi,

Can someone explane how to put Tomplayer on my Go920? I have copied everything from the "distrib" folder to the main memory (SDKRegistry, Tomplayer), the icon shows up on the TomTom, but when I click on it, the navigation screen comes back immediately. If I copy the same to the SD card, I do not even get the TomPlayer icon in the TomTom's menu.

I understand that the tomplayer.cap file has to be edited somehow in the SDKRegistry folder. Can someone advice point by point:

What copy to where?
What else has to be changed/edited?

If I want Tomplayer in the main memory.

Thanks, Chip

So, I copied it again, it works fine now. BUT: I have access to video files in the main memory only (under Video), I do not see the files on the SD cards video directory...

I do not get the tomplayer icon if I copy the distribution files to the SD card

???

Chip

Hello,

Sorry to bother everyone with this newbie question, but I put this on my SD card, rebooted it a few times and the icon is still not on my Main Menu.

Any ideas would be great!

Thanks,

Chris

Are you using a Custom TomTom.mnu file in the /SdkRegistry folder? If so, you'll need to insure you have enough MENUITEM|TASK_SDK*| lines in the TomTom.mnu file to make this extra icon show up.

Q9 on my FAQ page describes this:

a new fan

Hey all. !

First post, glad to be aboard! I have been reading this site feverishly for the past few days trying to get movies to play on my new 720. Good news. I am but a few clicks away from success. I am using Wolfgar's Mplayer and Super's encoder ( both of which i found on this thread) - I think both will be the bomb if I can get my config settings right on the encoder.

I have tries about 10 or so setting combos by trial and error and have had varied success. Has anyone else figured the right combos for 'output container' audio and video codecs ? I did get the res right @ 480:72 and the aspect ratio right @ 16:9 but I'm guessing at the rest.. I am getting sound ahead/behind the video, or really jumpy frame rates or both. I would dearly appreciate any help available on this, I have become obsessed with getting this 720 to play movies. BTW a wicked little machine IMO.

Great site too, BTW..

Cheers, -- TB33--
