Voice command not recognized in your country

Hello,
We bought a barely used like new tom-tom via 1535 tm. The first thing I did was do a complete wipe of the device then I created a tom-tom account and updated the maps & software ( successfully) and have been using it and For the first week with the latest 2022 maps & it worked great.
Then one day when I powered it on I got this message when I tried to use voice commands >> Your tom-tom voice command is unable to work in your country.

( were in the USA)

So, I did a reset by powering it off but not letting go of the power button until I hear the drum roll. Then it works. 100% BUT I have had to do this 3 times already.............any idea why? any fix?? tom-tom is of little help and we love the unit when it works the maps are very accurate for us here. Any help is appreciated.

 
Go back and re-select the 'computer' (not 'recorded') USA English voice, Samantha.

Then, next time this happens, see if Samantha is still selected. If not, we need to figure out what's resetting things.
 
How about the selected device language? Does that change when this happens?
Settings / Language = English US?

For whatever reason, the device seems to be declaring a mismatch between the device language and the selected voice.

It's always been selected Samantha English because it does turn by turn directions when it screws up and it won't allow voice control

it's still on the same voice if I change the voice and reboot it does the same thing it still won't work the only thing that makes it work is if I hold the power button after I turn the unit off until I hear the drum beat to reset it

sometimes it'll work two or three days with no problem and then all of a sudden you turn it on one day and the voice control is gone again

We're not talking voice selection now, we're talking device language selection.

Be sure Settings / Language isn't being flipped by the device to English UK.
 
It is not being flipped we checked,also I rechecked my update status and am up to date
 
I'm out of ideas. The device believes there is a mismatch at times, but you say that there's no evidence of that in the configuration.

As you can see from my own partial, I've got a Via 1535 here, too, and have never seen this specific issue (or heard of it elsewhere).
 
I'm out of ideas too it's been working fine all day today

maybe this last reset will make it work correctly.

I expect in two or three more days it's going to mess up again.

I may keep my eyes out for another one they're cheap enough now

but there has to be a reason that this is going on

I'm stumped
 
When you say rest, do you mean a (Factory) Reset.
It is painful but at least it is in like first use condition and you can take a note of the initial requests for Country, Language and Measuring system.
Just dug out my GO Live 1535 and will charge it over night.
Basically a rogue MapShare update turned it into a brick 4 years ago and TT was not able to remove it from my device.

fyi the tomtom worked fine today.

Mine is not really a brick but with a v9.90 map. Tried to update the 70 MB Safety Cam but of course failed with the same result. Bevore it would check for updates I wanted to make space. The France map was already uninstalled , I uninstalled the 3rd and 4th. It would not let me uninstall the v9.45 Zone 1 map of Europe, only change it for Zone 2 or 3. It then checked for updates and after some time reported that the device was up-to-date!

As I took the device out of the drawer, the suction broke into 3 segments. On examination I also notice that the soft rubber of the angle adjusting ball joint is coming off the supporting plastic stud.
@canderson, @dhn, are the physical condition on yours still ok?

mine looks brand new and works PERFECT.. except for the >>>>>>>>>>

I am totally stumped because it took the latest updates no issues and latest maps no issues.
It is used here in the USA we have it set on US english Samantha (spoken street names)

Sometimes we can power it on and off for days no issues works PERFECT!!!!

then for no reason it decides when its powered on it starts to say >>> voice command not recognized in your country. AND the voice command icon is blotted out so you cannot do a thing.

The only fix for it so far has been to hold the power button once its off until you hear the drum beat & it resets & so far it works again. The maps & directions are MUCH better and much more accurate than our crummy spare (Garmin 2597 LMT)

my other BIG ISSUE WITH TOMTOM IS>>>>> they have really HORRIBLE customer service Seems I get cut/paste suggestions that look like they were googled. Also, no phone support & it can take DAYS to get any email support & even then the support is often not helpful at least with this issue of voice command. I have had no other issues with my Tom-Tom that updates haven't solved.

IF you get a tom-tom & it works that is GREAT because their mapping system is very accurate here in our area & we have generally had good luck with Tom-Tom (except this issue)

My issue now is..... IF this keeps happening, do we get another Tom-Tom? with no phone support & cut/paste replies to issues it has me wondering??? will I buy another tom-tom?? jury out on that one!! We would though like to fix that voice command issue! Other than the voice command issue my tom-tom via 1535 tm has been pretty good...

IF we decided to get another Tom-Tom we need to know which one has voice command & it would be nice to have update over wi-fi and the option for most use of freeways.. I don't see that option much anymore. Plus we would like the option for putting the maps on a SD card
any suggestions??

Have you tried in Menu > Settings > Reset the device to factory values?
 
Several times yes we even took all the maps out all the software and updated everything twice still does the same thing
