I bought the traffic receiver for the 720. I want to use weather and buddies but I have an iphone. Will this receiver let me work both? Thanks

I can't say about the "receiver" method where you live, but Clear Channel is certainly providing the signal in most major cities. The TT site is a bit off the mark in a couple of areas, that being one of them.

I think you're mixing Apples and oranges here (sorry ). The traffic receiver is a passive device which picks up reports over FM radio. Weather and buddies make use of your wireless phone. I have the traffic receiver and it works fine in my area (Philadelphia/South Jersey) but wireless data doesn't work with my phone.

I'm not sure if you can use the traffic receiver at the same time as the wireless data traffic/weather. However people do report that the iPhone works with TomTom. Do a search here on the site and you will find several threads about this.

Yes, it works in the US. You activate it by simply plugging it into your TomTom. Once it picks up the initial signal, your one-year subscription is activated.

I believe the OP is asking about Plus Traffic over the Internet, not FM radio based TTN.

There is no way to order Plus Traffic in the US, even though the website states differently. Contact TT customer service and they will activate it for you for free.

I read it just the opposite way... he said he bought a receiver. To me, that indicates that he is asking about the "over FM" (RDS-TMC) method, not the "connect to the internet over your cell phone" method.

Both of the following apply ONLY to the NA market ...

All of the literature continues to state that use of the "over FM" method with the added receiver requires a subscription with Clear Channel (through TomTom) after the first year of use. Thus far, the "over the cell phone" method requires no subscription, although it may still require a call to tech support to get the feature activated in a few cases.
