How do I find out of my TomTom is due for a firmware upgrade or not, and how do I go about it if there is an update available?

The usual way is to connect ot Home 2 (get it at tomtom.com/home) and click on 'Update my Unit'. Home will show a progress bar as it's searching and if a later application (firmware) is available, it'll offer to download it to your unit.
