TomTom Rider 400 won't pair with Scala Rider Headset

I recently bought a TomTom Rider 400 to replace my TomTom Rider 2 with the intention of using the original Scala Rider headset. I checked the compatibility list and the headset should work with the TomTom 400 however I can't get the two to pair. I've also carried out the latest software update on the 400 but this made no difference. Any advice would be appreciated.

Am surprised. Rider and Scala have always played well together over an A2DP Bluetooth profile.
