TomTom One 3rd Edition specifics

I am new to the GPS world, got my TomTom One 3rd Edition for my birthday this week.

I have tweaked PDAs for years, but have no experience with TTO3.

From other postings I conclude TTO3 does not allow substitution of the "Blue Arrow" with a car icon, even by replacing some bmp file in a folder on the TTO3. Correct?

From other postings I conclude replacing the opening splash screen is definitely a possibility. Is there a "how to do" posting? Also, do the "horizontal" images offered on this site have to be rotated 90 degrees for the TTO3?

Help with these questions would be appreciated.
