i found that if you disconnect the battery on the tomtom one 3rd edition...(no sdcard slot)...it will format and copy files flawlessly.
i had lots of problems getting the 3rd edition to take files... and 90% of the time when i could copy files to the tomtom they would be corrupt...most the time it would give file not found errors or just plain would not copy.
with the battery disconnected i plug in the usb and it acts just like a usb jump drive...no prompt to connect to computer. copying and formatting work flawlessly. no corrupt files.
