Can anyone explain why my Tom Tom sometimes takes 10 to 15 minutes to pick up a valid GPS signal once switched on? Annoyingly, this has happened a couple of times when travelling up to Yorkshire from London and once, it wouldn't pick up a signal at all. Has anyone experienced the same problem?

I would appreciate any advice. Thanking you in advance.

You can try this..

Use Explorer to delete everything from the ephem folder on your unit. Then go here:

c:\documents and settings\yourname\my documents\TomTom\Home\Downloads\Complete\ephemeris\ and delete any sub folders you see there.

Now, connect to Home and a new quickgpsfix file should be offered. Install it.

Disconnect the unit properly from Home using the Device Disconnect icon and place the unit in an open area in a stationary position. See if it picks up a signal faster.
