Ah, but we do! (Several different ones, in fact).

@ron
Sounds like it drained while it was on the 'charger' dock. Have seen issues with contacts here a couple of times. Does sliding the watch back and forth a few times do any good? Does holding the two together bring back the battery icon? Does the fit between the watch and dock still feel relatively tight, or is it getting sloppy to the point where it almost falls off?

the connection still feels tight - i tried all suggested now there is a battery with a line thru it on the screen

it just started to work - i rubbed it back and forth a few more times - how do i clean the connections

Start with a Q-tip dipped in isopropyl alcohol. Give contacts a swipe on both watch side and dock side.
If that doesn't work, we may have to resort to a GENTLE pencil eraser application.

Yes, let us know.

Early on, I had one watch whose band tended to hold in a position that put a lot of strain on the connector. For that particular band, I removed the watch from the band for charging.
FWIW, I have one of the sports model without HRM that I use with the two bike sensors (crank and wheel), a sports model with integrated HRM sensor, and one for golf. Sometime, I should wear the last two together to see how much my heart rate goes up when I shank a shot!

the alcohol worked great - thanks so much for tip - not sure what I would do without my watch!
