TomTom Model(s)
TomTom 1MJ01 for Sony XNV-770BT
I own a Sony XNV-770BT whose navigation is provided by TomTom 1MJ01 GPS module.

Starting a few weeks ago, the system began exhibiting the following oddities:
  1. It takes a long time (5 minutes) to acquire satellite signal.
  2. It is unable to acquire a correct satellite time. As a result, 12:00 is displayed at all times.
  3. Resetting the 1MJ01 module has not rectified the satellite time issue.
  4. Navigation works in the sense that it navigates from start to finish.
  5. However, since the system does not know what time it is now, it cannot display an ETA for the route.
I made a phone call to TomTom Technical Support. After a long hold, I was informed that the issue of the TomTom module not acquiring a satellite time was known issue and software fix was being worked on. When I asked an ETA of software update, they could not give it to me.

I am wondering if there are other people with the Sony XNV-770BT + TomTom 1MJ01 who is experiencing the same issue.

I just started having the same issue on my TomTom. Will not correct to current time no matter what I try. Always has start time at 12:00 am

I would like for you to call TomTom at the number below and ask the person who answers the phone to talk to a TomTom technician about this 12:00 issue.

TomTom: (866) 486-6866
M–F 9:30am–6pm EST

When I called about two weeks ago (week of April 8, 2019), the customer rep stated to me:
"I just talked to a technician here. The issue of the TomTom module not acquiring a satellite time is a known issue and software fix is being worked on."
When I asked an ETA for the software update, they could not tell me when.

Please post here what you were told by TomTom when you call.

The big question in this thread and another similar one related to Sony in-dash systems is how the update will be distributed. Nominally, past updates for these devices have come from Sony. We have no information as to whether this update will come directly from TomTom or through Sony.

I have exactly the same problem. I performed a software update via MyDrive Connect - as usual, but it didn't solve my problem. After 2nd update attempt my module stopped working at all (my Sony device doesn't see TomTom module, neither my PC when I connect the module via USB). I had to reset it. After the reset I did the update again, but the problem is still not solved.

Today (April 30, 2019), I have an important update that I just learned by calling TomTom at (866) 486-6866.

As some of us must have already noticed, when you call the above number, part of the recording states "If your TomTom device does not show a correct time, press 1." It is a clear indication that TomTom is aware of the issue discussed in this thread.

When I talk to a TomTom representative, he stated the following to me:
  1. Their programming team is working on updating NAVCORE software to rectify the issue.
  2. At present, a fix is not expected soon, but will take at least 2 months.
  3. The fix will be released by TomTom, and NOT from Sony.
  4. If you already have registered your TomTom device with its serial number, you can sign up for an automatic email notification from TomTom when a fix is released.
Here is how to get on the email notification list:
  • (1) Go to this link: https://www.tomtom.com/en_us/updates/
  • (2) Enter you product serial number.
  • (3) Click on "Check my GPS device".
  • (4) Click on "Sign up".
  • (5) You will be brought to another webpage where you will enter your email address and your TomTom serial number.
  • (6) Click on "Send".
When a fix is released, an email notification will be sent to the email address you entered in (5) above.

The first webpage you access at the above URL will also show the following statement:
"After 6 April 2019, your TomTom navigation device will be impacted. We are working to see if an update is possible. If you arrived at this page through an email we sent, we will contact you at this same address when there is news. Otherwise, please sign up below to stay informed."

And, the second webpage you reach in (5) above will show the following statement:
"GPS WEEK NUMBER ROLLOVER
Please enter your email and serial number so we can notify you in the event there is news regarding your TomTom navigation device."

I encourage those who are having the satellite time issue to get on the email notification list.

I'm in the same boat here in Ireland. Since the GPS was reset my clock can't pick up the time signal.

I have the Sony XNV-770BT so we just have to sit back and wait for this update!

Maybe worth their while to contact Sony and or their car manufacturer's Customer Relations department to have them out some urgency on TomTom.

A Navcore update is now available. And, it fixes the issue of 12:00 displayed all the time.

In my particular case, as I connected my TomTom 1MJ01 module to my computer via a USB cable and launched TomTom MyDrive Connect software, I was greeted by the following screen:

I proceeded to update my TomTom 1MJ01. After that, I brought the unit to my vehicle, slipped it to its cradle, and started the ignition. Then, I was greeted by the following screen:

The correct satellite time is now acquired. So, for the time being, the matter is closed in my situation. I hope that this issue will not return when I update the TomTom module next time.

(Even though I had signed up for an email notification for a Navcore update, as of today (Monday, May 20, 2019) I have not received an email message alerting me to the update.)

Ok, that was me fixed up, had a bit of trouble getting my PC to connect to the drive module unit but after about 6 tries, it got there. Downloaded the Navcore update and other updates that were pending. Now my clock is back working just a wee problem with my live traffic updates but hopefully it will iron itself out.
