So I've been using TTGfA for some time now but I'm in the mind of whether to ditch it or just keep the yearly subscription going.

I use the app through Andriod Auto and have noticed an issue with the searching, which is the same if just using the app when not connected to car via AA and this was highlighted last week while I was away.

When searching for places, it would not show certain places within a reasonable distance from where I was, but instead it would show places for upto 200 miles away. Yet if I switch to Google Maps the same searches work perfectly and show me local places, etc.

For routing it wanted to take me off main roads and go down side/back roads saying they were faster and better to use when infact they weren't.

We all know about the audio issues with Samsung devices and unless you use the Google TTS the voices can't pronounce names properly, this has been ongoing for sometime and yet no solution in place from TomTom to get the app working with it's own voices.

I'm finding that Amigo is better for announcing traffic issues, cameras, speeds limits etc than what TomTom Go is and Amigo is free, granted it online only, but it works a lot better than the paid version of TomTom.

I even ended up resorting to using Google for navigation as it reported traffic issues which TTG can't do and I was able to search for any place to visit without issues and that was through AA and also able to download maps for offline use incase in area where there was no signal (which is a plus over AmiGo). I also didn't need to change voice settings.

I'm not too sure about Waze as not fully tested it, but it does seem that the free versions of the apps are performing better than TTG in a lot of ways and that the only benefit for TTG is the ability to fully download maps.

I've read Petal Maps is supposed to be quite good and performs better than TTG even though it uses TT maps, but it's not Android Auto compatible and unsure if it will be as made by Huawei.

TomTom constantly say limitations are caused by Google for Android Auto, so why is their free version better at alerts on AA, surely they could add some of these features into the paid version....

What are your thoughts....
