I have read info for a SD card but my Tomtom has a sticker over the sd connection saying no SD required. I wonder if I do need one as my tomtom did not have any POI's in it when I purchased it and the ones I do have I got from a web site that tomtom tech support gave me. With the download from the web site I do have some restuarants but not many and I not sure some are even in the area I live in.

Two issues here: Yes, the 720 doesn't need a sdhc card BUT it works with SDHC cards in that the application can be in one memory location (say the internal unit) and the map can reside on the card. My suggestion would be to get a good sdhc 4-gig card as it gets tougher and tougher to store everything just in internal. SanDisk is just one brand that works.

As to poi's: There are many sites on the web that offer free poi's for a TomTom. Here is just one to get you started.
