Remote Control not responsive

I have noticed that my tomtom go 910's remote control is not responsive sometimes. especially if it is very hot in the car. the problem is usually fixed if I lift the remote control up so it has a clear line of sight with the tomtom unit. a lot of times, when I'm typing in an address on the key with the remote, I would push left right up or down and it would not budge. I have to press it 4-5 times for it to finally work. does anybody else have this problem?

The same thing happend to me on my trip to mount rushmore. I had the remote in the center console of my RV and when it go too hot it stopped working.

Is it the heat or because too much sunlight? If I'm not mistaken, if the IR receiver is exposed to too much light it can't detect the signal (light) transmitted by the remote, and vice-versa.
