Start 25
Hello, new to the forum. I have tried numerous times installing maps on my Start 25. It has 8Gb of memory and I'm trying to install western eurpoe, size about 3.8Gb.

I get to around or exactly 51%, then my nav says "something went wrong" (or close, my nav is in Swedish). I have freshly installed MyDrive Connect.

Is there any logs somewhere? My computer also says same thing, something went wrong.

I've tried resetting with the 20 seconds power button, wait for boot screen with small text and then press power button three times.

Then MyDrive Connect notices the nav, installs the operating system or something and then the nav comes on and says "no maps installed" or similar

I use F-Secure, tried to switch off, no difference.

Yes, there are logs kept of all map install attempts, and they may provide some insight since the failure appears to be happening in the download phase.

First, the file may be huge (it collects over time), so I'd delete it and start your map process again. Immediately after the job fails, copy/paste the results here. You can find the log data by opening up the "Settings" tab in the MyDrive Connect systray icon in the lower right of your screen (assumes that MyDrive Connect is running). There, you will see "Downloads" and the download folder. Over to the right, there's a "Browse" button.

Click "Browse". This will open the folder. You are looking for the file cachestatus.xml. Copy that file to your desktop, open it, and copy/paste the results here for us to review.

The cachestatus.xml is almost empty...

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <urls cacheSuspended="false" cacheSuspendedType="PND"/>

However the log.txt was around 100Mb when update was at 40%, I made a copy and it stopped again at around 50% while the new log file was around 11Mb.

Attached log_edit.txt with the last rows that might contain something useful?

I can see you requested Western_Europe v 1120.12098 for device s/n BQ3424A92413
The job was actually re-started many times, but never completed due to TT server issues. The log only covered a period of about 41 seconds.

After the attempt, what other files remain in the 'cache' folder? Anything have a recent time/date stamp?

That's the last 41 seconds of the log, the whole process took about 30 minutes. I didn't upload the full of file since its way over 100Mb. But I did start to think that maybe my hardware firewall is blocking something, so I'm gonna try and update the maps with a different internet connection

I did see a lot of weird proxy messages that aren't typically found.

Tried again with an internet connection that doesn't have a firewall but no-go. Also turned off my F-secure firewall on my computer. Attached a bit of the end of the log file, again the whole log file i over 60MB.

I put a X in settings/downloads where I can select if I want to download updates to my computer. Now it downloads for a few minutes then it starts to upload to the nav but again at 52% it stops "something went wrong"

I've also been in contact with TomTom support and they also said it looks like poor internet connection or aggressive firewall, but that was before this morning when I tried with another internet connection. This on is a 500mbps fiber so no poor internet. And my computer is connected with ethernet, no wifi

Hi there @only4pro -

On a number of occasions when my GO 5100 had failed to download/waiting for device/upload maps, another recommendation was to go to the MyDrive Connect settings cogwheel (top right) and under the “DOWNLOADS” tab, UNTICK “Download updates to my computer (recommended)”. This would then download straight to the device, reducing any likelihood of Internet/security issues via my PC.

I'm giving up and I'm gonna throw this shaisse in the bin. I've now tried three different computers, two different internet connections (one firewalled, one without) and no luck. One of my computers constantly gives me "nav not responding" when I try to update. But as soon as I unplug and replug it shows up immediately. Fired up one of my old laptops with windows 7, but I can't even launch the freakin software, "TomTom" has crashed on startup with some q5 dll errors. Was thinking it's gonna be a no-brainer to update using windows 7. I'm goin on vacation on sunday and was hoping to take this nav with me since I'm renting a car there.

I have tried with the download updates to computer and without, but neither works. It shows it downloads it 100%, then starts to update nav and crashes at around 50-53% always
