Anyone seeing a PLUS traffic outage this evening? I have the green traffic circle, but see zero incidents anywhere. I even "faked" my location in Operate My GO, and see nothing in NYC or LA.

I hope this means they're installing the Inrix TotalFusion upgrade, or maybe a Trafficcast Dynaflow 2.0 upgrade.

I noticed this last night and this morning. I tried the weather feature on my 720 and it worked just fine. Traffic updates fine and I get the little green light but there is no traffic being updated or showing.

ok.. I just checked it out. Its updating some traffic information however when compaired to yahoo or google online its not compairing. But hey.. Its better than nothing and gets me out of really heavy traffic.

The 740 LIVE traffic had a new traffic model, where only differences from the built-in IQroutes flow-speeds would show.

PLUS traffic had shown slow flow alerts regardless of whether IQroutes thought it was "predictable", which resulted in many more alerts.

There's a chance that Tomtom flipped their PLUS traffic model during the outage. It may only be showing traffic where speeds are different from IQroutes.

I'll keep an eye on it for the next few days, and see if I can make any sense out of it.

If that's what they've done MVL, you'll probably begin to appreciate my 740 traffic complaint.

PLUS traffic is now showing a lot of grey flow. This is something I rarely saw before, so I expect this switchover to IQroutes-variance-only has taken place.

However the grey alerts do serve a purpose. When you tap on "minimize delays" in the traffic menu, you can choose the fastest route through delays, or avoid them altogether. The avoid altogether option still avoids grey flow, so it should meet your needs (assuming trafficcast also broadcasts grey flow).

I think I'm in a different mindset since I never got used to pre-IQroutes traffic alerts. I consider traffic as just better IQroutes data. I really don't care much about knowing that a traffic delay is there, I just follow the Traffic-adjusted route on the Tomtom.

Ideally I would hide the traffic alerts/screens altogether (still leaving the auto-reroute on), and just happily trust/follow the Tomtom direcitons. But I need to know traffic is in my way so I can periodically recalculate the route to workaround the traffic detour bug.

Are you sure if you "avoid them altogether" if will avoid IQR predicted traffic congestion?

My understanding of Grey on the traffic screen is it can be either no traffic information for that segment or there is traffic flow data but it doesn't disagree with IQR and it doesn't differentiate between the two.. I'd certainly be more comfortable with being able to tell if traffic flow is available for that segment or not. If I'm not navigating but simply monitoring, that creates even more issues with determining traffic flow. MSNDirect traffic will still give a verbal and visual alert of traffic ahead on the road you are driving even if no destination is set. Personally, I'd like TomTom traffic to do the same.
