TomTom Model(s)
TomTom One v3
So I have a TomTom ONE (v3) that I received for Christmas last year. I had hooked it up to a computer at that time and updated things and then, for reasons that have been lost inthe sands of time, but may have involved the hard drive crash on my laptop, I hadn't hooked it up in >9 months. Thinking I would do the right thing , I downloaded the latest copy of HOME off of TomTom's website and installed it on my laptop. When I plug in my TomTom, the laptop recognizes it as a removable harddrive and even launches HOME, but Home deosn't seem to recognize it.

Other facts that may or may not be relevant are that my laptop is still running Windows 2000 and doesn't have USB 2.0 ports.

Can anyone offer any advice on what I might to to get the two talking to each other?

There are a couple of issues I might see here:
1) Windows 2000 and the latest version of Home may not be completely 100% compatible
2) The TomTOm uses the USB 2.0 protocol.. Even though the new protocols are supposed to be backwards compatible with the 1.0 and 1.1 standards, perhaps you are having a communication issue there.

This is my best guess for the culprit, especially since it rings a bell about my initial experience when I got the unit. I think I may have had to wait until I had access to my desktop at my house to use the software. :(

On the plus side, I just recently ordered a USB 2.0 PC card for my laptop that should be waiting for me when I get back to my own place after Christmas.

so does anyone know if there are issues with Windows home Premium laptop equipped with USB 2.0 ports
