One 2nd edition not working

I'm having problems with my tomtom, I went to update it but now it won't connect to tomtom home. I've tried all the usual things like reset, and rung tech support but nothing worked. Now when I turn the tomtom on it says take the sim out so I do that but then says to put it back in. I'd appreciate any help thank you.

Do you have a backup of the unit's contents? If so, format the device using FAT32 and then restore the backup.

Yes it's a sim and I do have a reader.

I suspect we're still talking at crossed purposes .. but if your "sim" fits into your card reader on your PC, can you plug it in and identify what kind of things you find there? A screen shot might be helpful.
