TomTom Model(s)
Tomtom GO for Android
Per Tomtom:

Version 8.370
(TomTom x40 LIVE)

Improved RDS-TMC support in non-LIVE countries
Improved user interface
Improved functionality

If this is available to Americans then it should also bring all the features of the Euro-only 8.351 app, which includes items listed here.

First impressions...

My first impression of the new update, it broke a few things!

The two I have noticed so far:
  1. Direction notification does not seem to be as prompt as before... it appears that when it tells me to turn, it tells me once and then doesn't tell me again. Also, it seemed as if it did not announce the street to turn on either.
  2. When using Voice Recognition, I can "Turn Sound Off" but when I "Turn Sound On" it does not do so, I must do so through the menu.

Other then that, I can't seem to find anything else different, yet.

I have installed it as well - no problems with the installation.

So far, I haven't seen any difference in operation. No problems as the previous poster with announcing street names. They seem to operate as expected and as before.

So far, so good.

I noticed that the bootloader was the same, so I gave the 940 version of the app a try with my 720, running the app on an SD card.

Pretty much a failure, Tomtom really didn't mean this for the x20 series...
- the device is mute. No voices, no music, nothing
- I had "LIVE services" on the menu. But going in there it was my usual PLUS features, without traffic (I have a PLUS traffic subscription)
- Fuel prices had a new option: update for area, or update for map
- nothing much else seemed different, couldn't test much without sound

So I switched back to my proper 8.351 software - everything's back to normal.

Never one to give up - I figured out how to get this app onto my 720. I had to copy the LoquendoTTS folder from the internal memory to the SD card. The cab file includes Loquendo7 files, and the app is expecting the 720 to run Loquendo 6.

So far, no changes other than "Services" renamed to "LIVE Services". Traffic still looks like plus traffic, and it appears the auto-adjust volume bug is still present. I'll try it out for a while and post back.

Application 8.37 problem

Just upgraded to 830 with application 8.312. Tried to update application to 8.351 but couldn't (it looks like from above it's not available for US.) Following TomTom Tech's instructions, I finally got notice of a new application, 8.70, so downloaded it. Ran on TomTom, but Home wouldn't "Operate my Go". Upgraded to TomTom Home 2.7, no help, so removed it (2.7 was never offered again).
Finally deleted everything (several times) including Home, TomTom internal, removed micro SD, and copied original Windows backup to internal memory. Upgraded map to 830, worked ok, upgraded application to 8.37, can't operate Go from computer. Now I'm back to 830 with 8.312 and waiting to hear from TomTom.
There has been a lot more done in two days of dinking, but the bottom line seems to be that there is a problem with TomTom Home 2.6.4 "Operate my Go" for 740 Live running application 8.37.

Personally I have no interest in updating my firmware right now. My 740 is working just fine, thank you. Nothing compelling in the update from what I see and there has been more than one mention of new issues introduced. For now, I'll just sit pat.

The Operate my Go emulator is a separate software build. It usually take a few days (up to a week) for Tomtom to release it after firmware is released.

Gator, other than Operate my GO, what are the other issues you heard of with 8.370?

I used it for a while on my 720 with no major issues, but then reverted to 8.351 because autoquickgpsfix doesn't work.
