I constantly got this error when I tried to update my new TomTom XXL 540M:

Error during scanning for navigation items HomeBase/IO: Error reading file: F:\antitheftw.bmp
@ .\portable\cfile.cpp(1938)
00000570.

Detailed error message:

ERROR: DesktopLib/DeviceItemScan/Error: Error during scanning for navigation items HomeBase/IO: Error reading file: F:\antitheftw.bmp

Another thing is that why I cannot get TTS from my new XXL 540M?

Anyone please help?

Antitheft.bmp is the shutdown image for the unit. Notsure whether uninstalling and reinstalling Home would help.

Have you picked a computer voice on your unit (like 'susan').

Yes, I have picked Susan.

Another error when I logged in by my Home:

ERROR: HomeBase/IO: Error reading file: F:\tthome.bif

this.request.onload = function() { me._done(true); }

Another problem: My XXL 540M does not do TTS. Only left or right.

Error after error, I may need to return it. So much frustration with Home...

Anyone please help...

Connect the unit to the computer. Don't start Home. Make an Explorer, not Home, backup of the unit's contents.

Then use Explorer to delete all the loose files in the root of the unit, no Folders or their contents.

Now, connect the unit to Home. You should be offered an application. Download and install it.

See if that helps.
