Mapshare vs. buying a new map

Hello fellow Tomtomers,

Question. Everytime I connect my tomtom to the "tomtom home" software, the 1st thing it does is update the maps with "Mapshare". From what I've read, mapshare is comprised of map updates submitted by users. If our maps are constantly being updated with mapshare, is there a point to buying a NEW map (for whatever your country is) when tomtom releases them?

Mapshares only involve corrections that can be made to an existing map such as blocking streets, moving pois, etc. Mapshare changes cannot show new roads or additional locations of Advanced Lane guidance.

Mainly, it is the inclusion of new roads for the purpose of new maps; further, mapshare changes reported for one map (say 835) may NOT be included in a new map anyway.
