i got 8.50 europe zones map in my tomtom. i can switch between the zones.
when i use the latest map guarantee, it showed new map available - europe 8.55 2gb map. but my xl 250 won;t fit so tomtom home ask me to download the europe map in zones.

after i downloaded the map in zones, it turns out still the same old version 8.50
how can i download the new 8.55 map?

thank you.

This is exactly what happens on my XL IQ Routes edition 2.

I have a 30 day guarantee and that is the way I find the new maps. The complete europe map reports correctly as 855 but after installing any of the 4 parts of europe they individually report as 850.

Am I to fast :) I know the maps got released today, perhaps they haven't upgraded the 4 individual parts yet.

I updated my 540 World Traveller Edition.

Besides the 855 NA map, it did update (to 855) my Europe-West zoned map.

i also thought it might be 8.55 yet to release for the europe zones version. Seems like it's not the case now since the mod got updated to 8.55 europe-west.

I tried email tomtom 3 days ago, still awaiting for reply.

Is there any possible solution that anyone can think of? Would give it a try rather than letting the 30days expired and stuck with the old 8.50

thanks.

Map update went as prior one (4 hours) but now have only 54MB free. I forgot where you mentioned some things to delete which can increase the free space. I am worried the maps will get too large soon and, as others have written, will make the lifetime maps sort of a scam. I only have one voice (Susan) and not much else. I have the 2GB XXL 540TM.
ALSO, I downloaded a shut down image from TT Home but it doesn't show when shutting down. On TT Home it DOES show it as the only shutdown image on the device. THANKS

You can save a bit of space by:
1. Deleting all files in the license folder not having EN_US in the file name (you can actually dump everything in there)
2. Remove the installtomtomhome.exe file from the root of the unit
3. Remove anything found in the raster folder
4. Remove any car .bmp's from the art/cars folder than you wouldn't use

1) Thanks dhn but only see extra 5 MB saved (better than nothing !)
Do I need data.chk files (recovered file fragments) ? There seems to be 6 which total a large amount.

2) I downloaded a shutdown image I mentioned before. It shows on my device when in TT Home but when I shut down it does not show on TT unit. Any ideas? It is listed as "antitheftw.bmp" when viewing the files on my PC. Thanks

Do NOT delete the .chk files!

While Windows considers files with the extension as lost fragments, TT's software is linux based and the extension means quite something else. Those file are VITAL for the app to function.

Check that under safety preferences you have CHECKED not to leave device in car when you leave. That is supposed to 'trigger' whatever image you have for the antitheftw.bmp

Thanks for the major warning NOT to delete the .chk files !!

I do not have that other option checked to tell me not to leave TT in the car. That should correct what you said.
Thank again !!

The XXL540 has a bug where it shows the startup image when it shuts down. Regardless of the antitheft setting.

dhn - Checking the box you said now DOES show the shutdown image I picked from TT Home. The startup image is a different one I chose from TT Home as well, so the bug must have been fixed recently. Thanks !!

Anything else we might clear to give us a little more space ? Most should be down to under 60MB now on the 540 after the 855 map update.

Pretty much everything else is necessary. If you have anything in the raster folder, you can delete it.
