I purchased a One 3rd Gen two days ago, and inside the package was a shrink wrapped bundle of papers. Inside that was a green plastic sheet with a map update code printed on it. It says that it is valid for 30 from when you purchase your TomTom for a free map update. I checked online and TomTom's store wasn't working, so I couldn't see if my maps needed updating.
I have app version 7.101 and map v705.1481.
