You can do it as a favorite.

And you can change a Favorite into a POI.

Change Prferences/...Manage POI/Add POi ... choose CATEGORY from then on you will see options to add as Favorite/Lat Long ...

Thanks all for the help. But backing up a little. How do I type the lat. and long.
from the HOME page? There is no degrees on the keyboard. There is a degrees
on the TomTom keyboard but I'm not getting the format right.

Start with Add Favorite, and select Latitude Longitude. You'll get a keyboard with numbers, degree and minute symbols, decimal point, and the letters N and S. Enter lat in either Deg Min form or decimal, and hit OK. Then the same thing with longitude, E or W.
