Hello there to you all,
First of all, I'm relatively new to GPS and to this great site, therefore I would
appreciate if somebody outhere would please give me some assistance.

I purchased (recently) a new 720 unit, (which I upgraded from the 330 XLS)
However most of the times when I turn this 720 unit on
I only get a grey screen and none of the sats are on, or lit...
I have to "reboot" the system 2 or 3 times for everything to kick in...
ie: for the map's original/live colors and for my sats to show as active...
Am I missing something here, or do I have some type of reception problem ???
It seems that it's having a difficult time getting the sats/map to activate,
regardless of where I'm positioned , inside or outside a building or vehicle...
Any suggestions would be very helpfull.
In spite of that, I Love my tomtom unit, and find it a very usefull tool.
Thank You in advance, for your help/advice.

I have had the 720 for 11 months and never seen that problem.
Perhaps if you do a update via the computer and docking station, there are map and software updates available for the unit. I just did a software update last month.

As for positioning the unit I have found that it will work almost anywhere in the vehicle or in a building that is not of great density.

If that doesn't work then I would take it back to the store and do an exchange since it is still new.

Hope this helps.

It also helps to turn the unit back on where you turned it off. Eg. If you took it to the supermaket and turned it off at the supermarket and then brought it back home without turning it on, it takes a little longer to lock on. Otherwise its almost instant.
Follow Scotty's advice ;)
