Iphone Cradle on the blink

My iphone cradle always takes a long time to aquire, like a cold start every time. 2-5mins to aquire every time, even if I just turn the car on and off.

It seems that the unit is not remembering the ephemeris/calandar data on switch off.

I'm out of warranty, does anyone know if they can be repaired economically? (chip replaced)

It all works fine once I have a fix, so not a big drama.....but damn annoying as the integral phone GPS kicks in and runs the battery down instead of running off the cradle.

On the stand-alone PDAs, you can often fix this by deleting all the Quickfix data from the "ephem" folder on the device and the "ephemeris" folder on the PC.

I'm afraid I don't have an iPhone so have no idea if something similar might be possible on that.
