I'm not exactly sure what happened, but following canderson's suggestion, I performed a hard reboot on the machine. Despite the device being idle for 30 minutes in the same location inside the hotel room, it seemed to have gone into sleep mode. When I returned after an hour, the tomtom was still in the same place, inside the hotel room and on the table.
I tried to wake it up by pressing the power button on the top right. At the time, I was in Prague. After performing a hard reboot and waiting for 30 minutes or more, nothing happened. The device went to sleep, but when I tried to wake it up again, we were back online.
Fortunately, I didn't have to take it outside, away from the buildings or tree cover. This was a bit puzzling because, back at my home in the Netherlands, which is not in a remote area, the device always picks up the signal, even indoors. Usually, it takes approximately five minutes to do so.
Similarly, here in Prague, I'm staying in a well-known hotel, not in the middle of a jungle or far from any radio towers. Yet, the device finally picked up the signal inside the hotel room without needing to be taken outside.
So, it seems the issue is resolved now. I'm fairly certain it was related to the device catching the satellite signal. However, it was concerning that the TomTom device didn't pick up the signal as quickly as it does back at home, especially since it was indoors. But for now, we can consider this issue closed.
Thanks to everyone. This account is just for the archives to record what actually happened.
Do you really remember how long it took the very first time you took the new device out of the box.
that would be an arduous task, because the device is back from the year 2015 - 2016 , so my memory will fail me here.
