Hello everybody,
has someone ever changed the display of a TomTom Adventurer?
Where can I get the spare part? And is the display glued down?
Thank you in advance!
Best regards
Dom
Hi Dom, there is no need to remove the display screen, infact you cannot do it that way as it's not removable in the way you are thinking.
All you need to do is purchase any of the Tomtom watches in the video below from ebay that has a working screen (i've seen lots for sale that need new batteries going for low prices) and just swap the insides as in your Tomtom Adventurer insides go into the donor watch you got from ebay.
All you need to do is remove the six torx screws from the outside and very gently open up the watch and disconnect the battery, then there's a couple or so more screws inside the watch which will allow you to carefully remove the whole of the insides including the button controls, leaving the broken screen separate from the rest, do the same with your donor watch and just swap them over so your Adventurer now has the new screen.
You will also have to keep a log of which screw came from where because as far as i can remember some screws vary in length.
You're not swapping the back of the watch, just the screen.
I did this with my Adventurers broken screen and i also put a new battery in at the same time, it's like new now, i also changed my wife's spark3 screen the same way.
It can be a little fiddly so just be very careful when doing it and you will have no problems, it's a 30 minute job maximum.
There's plenty of instructions about on how to replace the battery and removing the back cover.
